Twister Play Mat for the Allard Pierson Museum
In preparation for Museum Night, the Allard Pierson faced the question: How do you translate the theme of “Crossroads” —encounters and trade in the Middle Ages—into an active, audience-oriented participatory experience? An experience that not only ties in with the exhibition but also truly brings visitors into contact with one another.
Our response was as literal as it was playful. We designed a custom-made “rug” featuring a giant game of Twister, entirely in the visual style of the exhibition. Up to 16 participants at a time were invited to literally move into each other’s space and thus forge new connections.
And it worked. Connections formed naturally, and the room filled with laughter, energy, and spontaneous interaction. A playful intervention that perfectly illustrates what Crossroads is all about: bringing people together in a way you won’t soon forget.
